I've been rehearsing with full horn band with all original material written in the big band style. Last night we taped 2 shows at a studio for broadcast on public television. We were told that the show would be taped as a continuous show( no edits, cuts etc., just one pass through) and we would do 3 songs per show. After the last song of the first show, before the cameras were out, while we were still on air, the trombonist announces "that wasn't very good, can we do it again?" I could make a long list of idiotic things this guy has done professionally and socially but I'll spare you for now. That one event will forever be emblazoned into my memory under the category of stupidest and least professional behavior ever. |

| | | | What you really mean to say is a smart trombone player an oxymoron I think, and the answer is no. I play with a guy who is smart but he only applies himself to the music so he kinda isnt book smart. good player

A ska/reggea/metal band that I know's trombone player is very witty though.

I played Trombone from elementry school to college, including in the 1978 McDonald's All American Marching Band. Yes, we have our moments, but so does everyone else. Remember, we can't just push a key and expect the note to be in tune, we have to actually listen to what we are doing, unlike Trumpet players. |

Q. Why did the chicken and the trombone player cross the road?
A. There was a slim chance the chicken was on the way to a gig. |

I played trombone and bass for many years and part of the reason I can read well is because of my horn playing. Also with trombone being an instrument that requires you to listen to be in tune it greatly helped my listening skills.
As far as your recent show experience, I've found that stupid people are found everywhere. |
