Things that sound like bass facts.... but aren't

Sign in to disble this ad
Start sharing with us the things about basses or bassists that SOUND true, but are just.... well..... total crap.

For instance: Geddy Lee is known to transform into his ultimate form, the Geddy Yeti, when angered.

Okay, so maybe they don't HAVE to sound true.

Bass is easier than guitar because it has fewer strings.

You should change your flats every week because the dirt repels the funk.

Jamerson had to file down round wound strings to get flats, until he invented flatwound strings in london. hundreds of years into the future.

Jamerson's funk machine was never stolen, it just went home. That's classified information though, so....

That Bass is not an instrument but actually a popular game fish.

Entwistle was known to do lines off of his Buzzard before every show.

Jaco referred to his Jazz as the 'Bass Of Doom' because the souls of drowned kittens and murdered hookers possesed it.

Most bass players are former frustrated guitar players.

Flea and Les Claypool are the greatest bassists in history; with Flea inventing slap-style playing and funk music, and Claypool inventing two-handed tapping, the 6-string bass, and the fretless bass.
Their styles are so unique and innovative that they can not possibly be imitated. EVER. This is such a well known fact that no one bothers trying to copy them.

Also, Les Claypool plays in tune 100% of the time.

The best bass tone is a boomy, muddy sludge. (apparently believed by many sound techs)
