While auditioning: "please, stop swinging, we're not playing jazz nor funk".
I failed that audition, though...

Why do the rest of them sound so bad whenever you stop for a bit?

You hold them all together

(My favourite I think, after an audition)
We auditioned loads of guys, and you're by far the funkiest, the gig is yours...

(At my first one on one tutorial at college with a teacher who totally ruled)
Well I can't teach you anything about technique, can you show me that thing you did again?

(To my then girlfriend from her best friend)
My God, his hands are just soooooo fast! Wow!

Making a room full of people boogie is the nicest feeling though

"I look to you to keep everything together."

From one of my guitarists in reference to timing and maintaining structure of the songs.

"Dagone!! I didn't even know you could do that on a bass! Ya'll (the band) better keep him."

After a small slap solo involving some wooten style phrasing. It made me feel good, cause I put a lot of work into learning it.

Group of high schoolers: You guys are awesome!!! How long have you been playing together?
Me: Well, uh...we practiced once last week....

It's a guitar. It's shaped like one and modeled to look like one. Only difference being it's longer and has thicker strings. Get over it.

Just like a trumpet and trombone are both "horns", a bass and an electric guitar are both guitars.

Caught this part of conversation before a gig last night.

A guy who has been following our band in all it's different constellations for the last 5 years said to the drummer something like "yeah I know what you and your brother (the guitarplayer) are capable of". The drummer replies that I have been with him from the very beginning, even from before the guitarplayer.
The guy stares at me like he has never seen me before and asks something "really??? oh ok"...

That kinda stinged...

In general, I'm getting fed up with people congratulating everyone in the band with their performance/parts except me...

Seems like the only way to get noticed is to slap in every song.

I was jamming with some mates in their garage, and one of their mates who was a bit too drunk to really enjoy tasteful music comes up to me, stops our song, and tells me 'your slapping sounds really hard... like... a train... or something'. He meant it to try to stop me from slapping, but i reckon that was a mad compliment. I slap like a train!
