| | | First ever performance, school talent showcase. I played a Slayer cover (Black Magic! ) with a couple friends. Crowd of about 200 people, all of which I know and see on a daily basis. The performance in and of itself was nothing special, it was kinda hard for me to keep my place because the amps were placed in such a way that I could only really hear our drummer, who really couldn't keep up with the beat from the song. I survived okay, but it wasn't spectacular, but that was not the embarrassing moment. As I walked off the stage (read: one foot riser) my strap broke, and my base pretty much dove jack-first into the asphalt. Left a huge, nasty scar on the bass, and landed on my foot after the initial hit. Not fun, especially not in front of everyone you know. |

They'd been having trouble playing a bassline and then he asked me to take a look at it and then gave me the tab.
The next day I went to meet him from a band practice and I noticed that he was trying to play the tune I'd been asked to look at.
He noticed that I had come in and he stopped playing. So I asked to borrow his bass, and then proceeded to play the tune off the top of my head, infront of all his mates, first time around. The poor guy was embarassed mostly cause he's been playing a little longer than me....
There was also an incident where I was in my uni dorm and some girls I knew asked me to play a little tune. I got up on top of a wall and played. Then I somehow tripped, fell and smacked myself in the face with the neck of my bass. Owch.....!

I had my back to him, and without realizing that he was there (it was a really big stage, much larger than we normally play) I swung my bass around, hitting him in the hand that was holding the mic in front of his face. Had his hand not been there, I probably would have knocked out some teeth. As it was, he had two or three open-gear tuners imprinted on his hand for a few hours. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
