Tomorrow = First Gig since going to only Fivers

Nothing major, just our new regular gig...This will be the first show that I have played since switching to 5-ers. I am going to use my Ibanez and keeping the Fernandes for backup. I have loved the switch...finding myself much more comfortable playing a little further down the neck...just a little bit nervous about tomorrow.

Just wanted to share.

Well, it ended up going good. I made my mistakes, but no more and no less than I did with the 4 stringers....

Nice one, just pick up the 4 string every now and again though. I play and six and the battery went dead so switched to my 4 string backup. Unfortunatly my fingers wernt used to the bass any more and my brain was on overdrive trying to convert the notes played on the low B to an octave higher.

Love playing that B note in live situations, also makes peoples head turn.

Yeah...it was funny, I hit the low C and the other guys in the band looked up and went ***....it wsa the first time they had heard it through the PA...all smiles.

When I made the jump to 5-ers, I sold off all of my 4's...I didn't want to have any crutches...the nervousness would have probably made me give in and play the 4...

For me the adjustment is small now - but I still have issues with the 6 String because of the narrower string spacing - if I am going to play it live I need to spend some practice time on it to acclimated. The 5 String Lakland as the number one spot. I am getting too used to the 35" scale too - just sounds fuller to my ears.

I actually used to play only my 5'r out, but I found I abused the "B" too much. I started taking my P instead and I'm not looking back. I still love my 5 and still frequently use it in the studio but, at least for now, I'm doing only 4's out . . .
