According to my source, the original bands still have no idea to this day that they really aren't all that awesome. He said that he himself recorded a ton of stuff you hear on the radio.
So, odds are, if you were in a famous band in the 80s, it's not you on the original recording. Before you start throwing flames, I'm sure there were some famous guys who did their own work. And certainly whatever hero you have did their own. Right? | Back in the late 80's I heard some producer saying that The Replacements were notorious for this. They would go into the studio get drunk and act like a bunch a goofs wasting time and money. What really pissed him off was was that they were really talented and could lay down the tracks easily if they would just be serious.

No one said Scott Pilgrim yet. Pilgrim's bass sound in the final battle is a Fender Mustang but the character is playing a Ric. While his enemy bass sound is a Ric but the character is playing a Mustang. Jason Faulkner and Justin Meldal-Johnsen tracked the bass duel.

Couldn't begin to prioritize "replaced" bassists. But how about Brian Wilson? He replaced himself with Carol Kaye on "Good Vibrations." Bet she and Joe Osborn have a lot of tales to tell!
