Total Band Meltdown Live

I was remembering of how I saw a rhythm guitarist actually assault the drummer during a song. It was at Venice Beach waaaaayyy back in early '70's at a 4th of July Fest where a zillion bands were playing everywhere in Venice.
We were playing from a flatbed truck and when our portion was finished we went checking out other bands around the beach.
The blow-up band was playing in front of some surf shop place. No idea what triggered the incident, but it was instant pandemonium and crap was knocked over, with everyone yelling, people scrambling to break it up----end result was gear hauled off to vehicles and a yelling match continuing around a panel truck until it left. It was awesome, if unfortunate for those involved. No clue if drugs or alcohol was involved.

Only time I've actually seen such a public meltdown between band members.
Anyone else ever see such a thing?

Really?

Methinks, given the era/place/event, there is a slight chance that this was a chemically enhanced altercation. Just a guess.

Guitard earned that, frankly. I thought the singer handled it well.

LOL, The vid is wicked. After my last band, I can totally agree with the pent up hate for other members at times. Man oh man.... working bands must have an amazing ability for dealing with people/personality conflicts.

"Total Band Meltdown Live"

Sounds like some lame MTV reality show lol...but the intended subject matter for the thread is quite intriguing. I'll keep an eye on this one =)

that is pretty funny. What is the story on that? Guitarist is too drunk to play and drummer got pissed?

There is a fairly well-known anecdote regarding Dinosaur Jr. at some show in the late 80s ('89 I believe). Apparently Mascis lost it and swung his guitar at Barlow, who blocked it with his bass. The band then left the stage and, if I recall correctly, actually came back on and finished the set. Details can be found in "Our Band Could Be Your Life."

On one of the first Faith no more EPs I think....

Half way through War Pigs, Patton looses it walks off and leaves Bordin to finish the song....

It was actually Bordin who stormed off stage leaving Patton to the drumming on War Pigs. The story was 'Puffy' hurt his ribs bungee jumping in New Zealand and the band kept taunting him about it...so he got mad and left. It was recorded on Live at the Wireless in the Triple J studios in 1990. I have a copy of it on audio somewhere.
