I was just curious if any of you guys had unique and humorous tip jars for gigs. I saw a picture on the internet of a fish bowl with a stuffed fish in it that said "Help! I can only swim in money! please don't let me die!" and thought it was a pretty hilarious idea. People are probably slightly more obliged to tip if your money-begging made them laugh...
What is YOUR tip jar? Instrument cases are so cliche...

he really cussed me after the show, but the rest of us were laughing our tails off...the singer was crying, he was laughing so hard

He states that we used to have a tip bucket, but we're thinking much larger, and going for the bailout. He normally mentions something about being 300 million dollars short of our goal. It goes on from there.

Any more than that, and I am sleeping in my pickup, and that back seat is really not all that comfortable

I just stripped it to bare wood, as I want our singer and her daughter to decorate it with music symbols and tips in an artsy unique kind of way. Kind of cool that we can mount it on a tom stand right in front of the stage. |

Inside i've mounted a round blue neon light from an old cheesy neon clock and have a clear drum head facing the audience. Inside the drum...the back is painted silver and TIPS is lettered. I can swap out the clear front drum head for heads that have band logos printed on them. The only issue is that I need to use a drum key to get the money out. When I am only gigging in one band .....this is not an issue because we just let the tips build up over a bunch of gigs or until the drum is about 1/2 full of bills. With multiple bands .....have to remove one of the heads after the show which is not that big a deal. I'll try to post a picture if there is interest. |

Was thinking about this idea you have.....cut an access door with your grinder velcro strips to hold it in place. Maybe |

I forgot to spin them 90 degrees but you get the idea
I can change out the front head with band logos for additional flair
The blue neon is pretty bright and attracts attention in a dark cocktail lounge
