Unlikely? I am miffed....

So I played a weird one off show tonight, just me and a guitarist, weird elctro drums while we jam kinda thing, srt of avant garde sillyness. So I start, nice tasty riff, then I get it going crazy,, distortion, wah, filters it sounds pretty mental and I'm slapping away when...BAM!

The A string snaps right into my face. Damn!

So I think no biggie, I can get through with 3 strings, when BAM, Dstring snaps.

I've never ever snapped a string in my life! And these were new ones! Perfectly put on and everything, I think I might have been playing too heavy. Oh well.

(Sorry to anyone who took offense to my laugauge, I'm not thinking clearly)

Watch your titles...
I never broke a string... and don't see how people do, sans letting them on to long, or bridge causing them to. Oh well...

most stations, at least until very late at night, bleep out that phrase.

when you are in someone else's house in a store or in another place you mudt follow the rules or laws. You cant legally scream " fire " in a movie theater now-a-days, society today

when on someones website if they have a rule pertaining to what you can do or say on it you musdt follow those rules or be banned or reprimanded in another way. go figure

Some people, including myself, are offended by that phrase. go figure.

i think you better go change that title before a moderator closes the thread, or even worse

I have snapped many strings, mainly D for some reason. For some reason it's always after and not during a slap session. There's one for the scientists

My last band used to see me play and state that they were just waiting for me to snap a string. It never happened. I laugh at them.

Btw what on earth is so terrible about that word??? I know what it means, but every 5 year old is saying it!!!

for me it isnt the word, its the pair of words. that phrase mis offensive to me. I would have ignored it but when I saw there was a forum rule against that kind of language and saw how ignorant someone in his defense spoke of it i had to put in my two cents.

I apologise If anyone took offense to what I said in the title, It was not my intention to offend anyone, I wrote it right after the gig and I was still a bit....peeved. Its againsta the rules and I forgot. And just to be a total cheeky monkey and to paraphrase Bill Hicks:

"Hey buddy, we're christians. We don't like what you said."

"Well then forgive me."

But yeah, its agaisnt the rules, so sorry.

And to paraphrase Frank Zappa from the Dick Cavett show . . . .

"What makes some folks think that the utterance of certain sounds into the atmosphere is automatically going to corrupt the world"

Come on folks, they are just sounds! And I personally don't feel that your right to NOT hear something in any way exceeds the right of someone to say it . . . . it's kinda like TV - if you don't like it, turn it off . . . .

It's in the rules. You do not set the rules here. The OP doesn't, either.
You either obey the rules, or else you leave. No ifs ands or buts about that.
I wasn't personally offended, but there are many who could be. Simple as that.

that rule is rather open to interpretation. i personally would not consider "damn" or "god damn" profanity nor obscenity.

to quote the rules "If what you have to say wouldn't be suited for network TV, don't post it here."
personally i've head said words upon network tv and would find them perfectly within the rules.

Hmmmmm.

Back to the original topic, I had something like that happen to me once. I was playin' a gig with my band at a Barbeque thing at a place called Trader's Village, and halfway through one of our songs, my A string pops up in my face. Great, right? So I immediately slide down the neck and stick the rest of the song out riding the E string. After the song ends, my guitarist immediately runs out into the crowd, yanks a seemingly random person away from his plate of food, and launches into a cover of You Can't Always Get What You Want, the guy he pulled singing harmony over the chorus. The cover turned out great, it gave me time to get the string changed, and it gave my guitarist/lead singer some material to riff to the crowd.

By the by, turns out the guy he pulled from the crowd was lead singer in his old band. Lucky, huh?

It's starting to smell a little uptight in here. Why can't we all just slavishly follow the rules and get along?
