Talking Upcoming gig

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

So our band has it's second gig. Again we must play without a singer. We have a singer, but is not ready yet. Has about a 1/4 of our stuff done.

Anyhow, we played at this exact spot before for a birthday party for our buddy Kyle. It went well and there were about 150-200 people. Outdoors party.

This time it is for his girlfriend and two of her friends having a bday party for them. The good news is there will be a keg, stripper pole, and jello wrestling among other things. This one should be a good size bigger than the other one, so we are pretty psyched.

My question is, these people get rowdy, so our band (or I) am thinking of a good simple song to learn quick that would work good for the stripper pole and jello wrestling. Looking for a decent repetitive jam while the event is going on. Thought about Tone-Loc's Wild Thing even though there really isn't a bass part to it I don't think, but if you can think of a cool groove that would mesh well with those two events, hook me up.

Thanks all and looking forward to the event.

Wild Thing is always a good choice. My bands play ZZ Top's LaGrange for stuff like that, too.

The Chicken if you want an instrumental with a cool bass line that is funky and interesting.

Jungle Boogie is fun too and you could get away with out singing it

I was just thinkin' LaGrange! (a how how how how) or maybe even "Tush". Anything from George Thouroughgood would work as well. Or depending on the girls, "Whole lot a Rosie" from AC/DC.

Hell just head to a strip club and see what kind of music they're playing and go from there.

I actually saw a girl in a club strip to Tom Sawyer by Rush one time...so anything is possible.

Girls can strip to anything funky. Or rap. Or with a good groove. Pretty much anything they can dance to.

Trust me, I have a stripper pole in my living room, and there is a good reason I moved my practice amp downstairs...

For Sing along:

Pole dancing, The Jack by AC/DC

Jello wrestling, I'd say, Another One Bites the Dust By Queen.

Whats the address again?
Sounds like a great time

I have no doubt you'll come up with something.

My question is, do you guys have security? We play some rough parties and I always bring goons with me. There was this one time I didn't about 20 years ago and I wound up with a lot of damaged equipment, particularly the P bass I blasted that guy in the head with. Have a couple of anonymous looking guys in the audience at least. Protect the gear with your life man.

Green Onions works for the "pole" stuff.
Remind the patrons (you got the mic) that these gals are working their butts off and don't forget to "tip".
The "Acts" I.E., dancers and wrestlers should surely have there own body guards. Have fun.

Yeah, it was a decent little party. About 200 people or more in and out. There were some patrons on the pole for sure. We pretty much did a Bad To the Bone, but a little different and drawn out. One girl absolutely smoked the pole and she happened to have the best body out of all the women there too, so that was good.

There was quite a few fights...mostly cat fights, but some vicious women. Couple of people got scuffed up, but no leakers. Interesting night filled with superficial drama.
