upright basses do not fly

A friend of mine told me this story about the upright bass he owned at the time he was telling me the story. He strapped it on top of a bus that the band was using at that time. As they were cruising down the highway at 75 mph the strap came undone. The bass rode a current of air for a few seconds. That didn't last long.

After he picked the pieces up he glued it back together.

Thankfully, no one was following behind.

I saw the bass. I saw the repaired splits. You could tell it was an amateur repair job. I heard the bass: it was very loud and responsive.

I know this is a stretch, but this makes me think of the WKRP episode about the turkeys. WKRP Turkey Drop in 30 Seconds - YouTube

My first thought too!

Even though I was only in high school at the time, Bailey was my main reason for watching that show. But that episode is one of TV's all time funniest moments (the "Cheers" Thanksgiving food fight was pretty good, too )!
