Very Rocky Start...

Last night I sat in with a band that I gigged with regularly a few years back. They're doing mostly the same songs so on occassion I get a call to come fill in when their current bassist can't make it.

We go on stage last night and notice only one of the house PA speakers is working so their "road manager" jumps on stage and decides to work on the PA. To get to it, he needs to slide my rig off to one side (very small stage).

It's a pretty simple setup with a small mixer, a single power amp and a pair of speakers hanging from the ceiling. 20 minutes later and after much heated discussion it appears we're ready to go. I slide my rig back into place and nothing...

I figure he's just unplugged the 1/4" speaker cable running into my cab. Well yes, but not before managing to push the entire crossover assembly back into the cabinet so all I have access to is the two holes in the plate where the two 1/4" speaker jacks should be.

After the delay with the PA, the band is already into their first song when I realize I need to get out the multi-tool, remove the plate, fish out the crossover with connected 1/4" jacks and get it all back together good enough to finish the first set.

I missed the first song completly and just barely got powered back up in time for the second...

Finished the night out OK from there on but I did mention to the band leader that maybe the "road manager" was best left to business matters and leave the technical stuff to somebody else.

Gonna see what it will take to convert my Eden 210XLT from 1/4" to Speakon...

Here's a pic.
