Videos like this define why I do not like most lead guitar players

my guitard in my band showed me this... and it pretty much is some young kid wanking around on the song with no regard to really anything... its like one big guitar solo, says the title...
but he gets off time, and just plays fast notes and it just shows, to me, that some guitar players need to calm down and play what fits with the song...

this is all in good fun..
what do you think?

this is him soloing over johnny cash... ill admit that some of it fits every so often. and would sound good with a slide, and sounding kind of distant...
but whats the need for any of it?

(and i know the kid in the video is just showing skill and messing around, but im speaking of general terms of lead parts)

Looks like the kid is having fun. Just have fun at what YOU are doing and be happy with that. \m/

This kid's probably a sophomore in high school. Let him have his fun.

Not my thing, but how many bass players are on youtube slappping and tapping. Same thing in my book.
Maybe there is a reason all these types of videos all take place all alone in a bedroom

This!
Wish I could have rocked out like that and had the nerve to post it for everyone to see when I was his age!

He's goofing off in his bedroom.. I don't see a problem.

Now, If he was doing that onstage, with a band, that might be a different story.

Your kidding right?
He's playing in his bedroom(shredding pretty well I might add) having fun....it's not like he's in the shadows of a Jazz club.

BTW thanks for posting.

Is it me, or is his guitar is way out of tune?

I thought he was a pretty engaging guitarist, personally.

Greetings from the North,

Kidz gotta Rock! He's havin a great time and he's not leanin against a wall with a needle hangin from his arm or a pipe burning his hands. Besides, he's doin pretty good and he'll prolly figure out the rest. Keep playin kid!

I guess I'm in the minority here, as I was irritated after about 1 minute.

(He does have ok chops though and it was only a YouTube vid over a recording, so whatever.)

I agree with most:
1) He's a pretty good guitarist.
2) He's just having fun in his bedroom. I also used to solo endlessly over songs in my bedroom when I was his age.
3) It's not for continued listening.

So what? Let the kid have fun.
