For the visually impaired T'Ber - glasses or contacts?

Sign in to disble this ad
i've been playing for over a year with my current band, and up until now i've always worn contacts at gigs. lately, they've started to disagree with my eyes, and i have to wear my Glasses for the first time tonight during a show.

what do you guys prefer during live performance, glasses or contacts, and why? do you think the style of glasses matters?

Discuss!

Option 3 - I wore glasses for 35 years (contacts for some, they generally didn't work out for me) and had LASIK about 5 years ago.

There are pros and cons to the procedure, and the idea of eye surgery can be scary, but I had a great outcome and would highly recommend it.
The key is to find the best surgeon you can - it's not a place to try to save a few bucks.

Life without glasses rocks.

Option 4 - Blind bassist

It may sound strange but I always wanted glasses as a kid (actually tried to fail an eye test)...something distinguishing about them.

I'm the only one in my family who doesn't need glasses on a day to day basis, but it's getting to the point where it's work to focus on anything.

Eye doc appt tomorrow...

My mom got it and she was blind as a bat. Wore coke bottles, even the "thin cut" lenses were really thick.

She got lasik and doesn't need her glasses anymore. She only wears them when working on a computer, reading, or when she's doing her artwork.

Make sure any glasses you have are tight enough around the ears to keep then from flying off your head when rockin' out. Contacts have done right by me for the most part, but Seattle bars are non-smoking and that helps out tremendously.

This is an interesting thread. The doctor prescribed me glasses about 6 years ago. Initially I was hesisitant to stick anything in my eyes, so I played shows with glasses. Less than two years ago I made the switch to contacts and couldn't be happier. I would say go with contacts, but they don't bother me and my eyes don't get dry. You decide which looks "cooler"...

with,

or without,

Contacts are not an option for me, but I don't wear my glasses on stage because they look stupid. Instead I just stare blindly out into the audience. I figure it gives me a mystical aura, but odds are I'm just squinting at random inanimate objects the whole time, looking like an idiot.

Glasses for me. Years ago I wore contacts, but my eyes now get a bit too dry for comfort. When I've acted in plays, however, I go with naked eyes. In that situation, you've rehearsed enough to not have to see anything in detail. And not seeing the audience clearly in a small playhouse is a help to avoid distraction. Plus there's no reflection from stage lights.

Dustd, the pic without glasses is cooler, because you're not wearing the hat backwards.

I have reshaping lenses. Wear them to sleep and take them out when you wake up. I've worn glasses for 15 yrs. and don't like regular lenses. Just another option.

After 35 years of glasses I started wearing contacts this year. Sometimes they get dry but over all I like them.

I have thrown my glasses off in the past while tossing my head around. not cool when they land on the dance floor

I like not having them on my face.

Earplugs at both.
