The wait for UPS and Fedex

Is it not the most torturous thing!! You buy that new piece of gear and it seems like it takes forever as you track the progress of that item getting to you.

twocargar 03-02-2013 06:53 AM

Absolutely. For me 'a watched pot does not boil,' or in my case, 'a watched shipper's online tracking does not get updated." :D

bassdude51 03-02-2013 06:58 AM

Tom Petty covered your feeling of torture. "The Waiting Is the Hardest Part"

For me, the buying and the UPS/FedEx wait is exciting. The arrival is bliss. Then, in a very short time, my new toy just becomes taken for granted and then GAS kicks in and it's time to start the process all over again.

Spoiled American!

It's as if I had written this post myself, verbatim. :D

Spoken like people who aren't shipping across an international border.

Unrepresented 03-02-2013 11:39 AM

The secret is to order lots of stuff, so you get a new delivery every day or so. Takes the edge off.;)

People today are programmed to expect instant everything. It has even trickled down to the TV and movie industry where every single TV show and movie must change camera shots every 2 seconds or they risk people get bored.

Tracking shipping is not like your phone where you check for a new text every 2 minutes. It involves warehouses, trucks, and humans moving at human pace.

Bert Slide 03-02-2013 01:16 PM

Buy locally whenever possible. It helps your community and no waiting for the shipping truck.

kcole4001 03-02-2013 03:03 PM

I think the best way to beat it is to buy something online, then purchase another item locally to keep your mind off the impending (or not so impending) delivery.

When I was waiting for my Rick 4080 to come from Kansas, it spent over 3 full days clearing customs (I think they were just playing the darned thing and didn't want to give it up).

Currently I'm having issues with the bank not processing payment for a set of Taurus IIIs I'm tying to order from Tenessee.
It was supposed to have been remedied Friday, but I'll have to go down there again Monday since it's still frigged up.

The next worse thing to having no money is having it and not being able to spend it after waiting a year to get there.

themacinator 03-02-2013 04:14 PM

My new cab is just sitting in the warehouse or whatever they call the place they load the little truck. Have to wait until Monday. Sucks.

mjac28 03-02-2013 04:20 PM

The wait is torture especially because they don't give you a time when they will be there just like cable so every time you hear a truck you go running to the window. :)

kcole4001 03-05-2013 03:13 PM

Here's a little example of how my luck runs:
The transaction for Taurus IIIs went through on Monday, they're shipped and on the way.
Looked in at Musician's Friend to browse their sale area today (Tuesday) and what do I spy?
Moog Taurus IIIs for $280 less than the price I just paid, naturally!
Just went on sale today.

Oh well, they were very accommodating at the store I bought from, more of a mom and pop vibe, and most likely better to deal with in case of damages/return issues.
Good service makes me more than happy to give them my business.

This thread is like seeing someone else yawn, it made me go check the tracking on my latest acquisition.

Yep, still in NJ.

OP: stop being a princess. Having to wait for you're next GAS fix is a FIRST WORLD PROBLEM! For example: there's a lot of people on this planet who don't know how or when they'll be able to feed their children. Put it into perspective & get over it.

kcole4001 03-05-2013 03:26 PM

This is the humor forum, isn't it?
If we can't laugh at ourselves...well, we just have to laugh at someone else...
;)

I can handle FedEx and UPS. It's USPS that drives me nuts. Tracking is updated so rarely it's often useless. I've had stuff show up at my door, when tracking is stuck at "Electronic information received". Or worse, tacking declares the item as delivered, then it shows up a day or two later. Or worse yet, it doesn't show up at all. But you have to wait a couple days after tracking has it as delivered to file a claim, because that's how they are.

Who'd have thought that people living in a first world nation would have to put up with first world problems...

And there I was thinking this is about their awful packaging service that is always used by idiot customers when there is just 1 person in the shop.

You mean like waiting in line behind a...less than efficient... person?
Like going to the corner store for a 2L of Coke and having to wait for 10 minutes because the dufus ahead of you is trying to buy cigarettes with a check and forgot to bring any ID with them...been there.:rollno:

Just put on the song "Anticipation" make a small video and laugh.
