Friday night we had a guest harp player at a blues gig. We said, 'Go ahead and pick the first song'. Guess what?

No pics, no butt-rubbing chicks to justify Mustang Sally.

Well, the butt-rubbing doesn't fit in this decision tree, but I thought this might be useful for future reference....

Yeah that is always the reason we play it the ladies always want to hear it. Not sure the reason why they want to hear a song about a guy buying a 1965 Ford Mustang for his old lady, but they do so we play it.

OK,I admit it. I LIKE playing this tune. I'm pretty new to playing, and I can just zone out and watch the chicks dance, without worrying about what I'm doing. And there are ALWAYS ladies dancing when we play it.

I was playin' a gig in Hazel Park, MI. The song; Hurts So Good. We were sawin' away at it and bandmates were lookin' at me chuckling away and I turn to my blind side & like 6-7 chicks were doing a dry-hump to each other right there!

It was John stinkin' Mellencamp! Jeez!

We play MS at every gig. Why not, if it makes 200+ people dance who are we to pretend we are better than those enjoying it. Then again we are a wedding/function covers band so dont do the sort of gigs it definitely wouldn't go down well at.

The "no Mustang Sally" rule is just something people who think they are better than the audience (and those who do play it) have made up to look cool. Its all BS.

As for the girls in the audience, we have started playing Sit down by James. Suddenly all the short skirted girls are sitting down on the floor, normally facing us.
Good time :-)
