I've been told there's a female somewhere that plays both bass and sax, like me, but its probably just a rumour. Like the Loch Ness monster, or geek girls

Cherie | I'm working on the band part of things
but school dances got banned at my school for some reason, and we're too small a school to fill even half our gym.
However, I would love to be able to play those kinds of gigs, maybe things will change in the future.

Well, perhaps the kids will have house parties, or barn parties, instead? That's what we used to do, in high school. Someone would get their folks to let us use the house, and we'd have jams. Or one of the farm kids would get permission to use their dad's feed barn. Those were cool. Electricity available by pole or generator, way out in the country, and not right up against the house, so the noise didn't bother anyone. We'd barbeque, play music, have poker games, the motorheads would work on their cars...fun!
Let us know when you get that band going!

However, the house/barn parties sound like a load of fun.
As far as the band thing goes, we're officially formed, but our vocalist is off on a vacation all this month so we cant practice :P
We plan on playing the talent shows at our school and eventually getting gigs once we can drive. I'll be sure to let everyone know once we've got something recorded or filmed.

Can't be tearing up the farmer or rancher's barn, or scaring his animals, if we want to be allowed to play there again, right? So...trouble was quickly quieted or ejected.
Practice a lot, all you can, on your own and together. In a year, I'll bet y'all will be all manner of busy, and it won't be so long before you're driving.

Also been counting down the years until I can drive, 2 more to go

I was one of only two bassists in my small college. Made it easy to hook up with other musicians...

| | | I only know of 2 in my level, myself and this other girl.
I took up bass about 2 years ago and soon after she did too so I wasn't happy about not being the only one around anymore.
I comfort myself with the fact that I know how to slap (not very well, but that's besides the point!) and she probably doesn't. Plus I saw her play last year in this competition held by our school, and I don't think she was very good.
Anyway, I doubt there are anymore in my school of about 1000. I suppose it's because everyone else is into guitar. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
