Because of pending snow.
Oh well, I guess I'll be posting more nonsense here tonight.

I got lucky - was fully expecting my gig tonight to get cancelled for the same reason. Got the call an hour or so ago that we were still on. Now, the $0.25 question is, will anybody show up?

Well that's the issue. The venue tonight was a club and the owner has treated us quite well.
If he feels that he will lose money tonight I'm willing to work with him. Taking a hit tonight means we will work there longer and have a good business relationship and I'm for that.

Agreed. Stinks for tonight - good for the long term. When you find the good clubs/bars, it's worth just about anything to keep the good relationship going.

We just got lucky that the snow out west (in Port Jervis, NY) wasn't as bad as it was a little further east in Orange County.

We got snow coming down now (Saturday morning) but none until about 5am; last night was fine. For that matter, there really isn't enough on the ground yet (about 10am) to stop anyone from going anywhere....

uhmmm , i believe "snow" is a term used to describe a light , frozen rain ... i could be wrong .

very rare here in central texas , but it has been known to cause havoc in the northern states ...

Oh no, frozen rain is very different and much worse. I'll take snow over frozen rain anytime.

"SNOW" is stuff that falls from the sky and makes most, if not all, people forget how to drive. Also has the ability to turn 2 lane roads into 4 lane roads, allows most traffic signs to be ignored, and makes your car/truck drive at a 90 degree angle to the road! Neat, huh?

Wish we had taken the camera with us yesterday...We could show you what ALOT of snow looks like...

Drove to South Bend Indiana so Guitar Center could waste my time and gas ...Was snowing so hard in places that we couldn't see hardly past the hood of the car...Saw several vans on the road with a good TWO FEET of snow on their roof!!...A one-day record for South Bend at 28" of snow...It did give us a good opportunity to test the 4-wheel drive in the '99 GMC Jimmy we bought a couple weeks ago though...

Turned out that it was good that the gig got cancelled. At 10:15 pm a car slid into a pole and took out the power line for the whole street. We would have been 3 songs in then Darkness and silence.

We set a snow fall record in December here in MN.

I did have a gig in December, and it did snow, but it was not canceled. About 15 minutes before we started the bartender told us they did not have a single customer the previous Friday. Lucky for us one of our FB fans came in a few minutes later - carrying his snowmobile helmet. It was a slow night, but I think they came close to covering expenses for the 4 hours we played.
