The Who one was wildly off; Moon came last. The Rush ones, and all of mine, have honored true history, as have most of the others. I'm almost willing to put up money that nobody gets my latest (post #45), before this thread reaches page 5.

Just a sub at first, but eventually you must be able to take over leadership of group and transform us into one of the strangest bands in rock history. Here's another one-
Relocated (to Chi.from Austin) established and signed noise rock trio seeks hard-hitting drummer to replace our machine. Must be comfortable with public nudity, loud stage volume, epic live shows, and relentless tour schedules. No wimps allowed.

The Mothers of Invention, on the eve of Zappa's arrival.
Gotta ask everyone if they can try putting themselves into the mindset of the band at the time the hypothetical ad would have been written. It makes the guessing that much more difficult (along with the already-covered honoring history thing). My stumper in #45 is a current artist, with a recording career dating back to the late 70's. The hypothetical ad would be from about a year ago....and I would still be impressed, if someone guesses it, on the first try.

Still not the right answer, however.
I must leave for tonight's gig, in about 45 minutes, so I ask that there be some understanding of my absence, for a 6-hour span.

Open to many styles, especially african, latin, jazz, etc. Looking to expand and create something new.
Pop rock band looking for musicians who can act. Strong usical ability a plus, but not required so long as willingness to learn and grow is there. Must look hip, have an excellent sense of humor, and good comedic sense. Must either be or look between the ages of 17 & 27.
Successful 4 peice band (gold and platinum albums) looking to replace lead singer. Must have lots of presence, and be able to totally command a stage. Music in the vein of zep, pearl jam, maybe a twist of doors influence. Absolutely no drugs, and please have a clean police record.

I'll guess that the top one above might be for CSNY, and the middle one above might be for the Tubes, but both are vaguely written, to the point where they might be a few other acts, as well. Nice stumpers, Joe. That's how this game should be played.

#1 could be CSNY as Plank said but I'm going for Simon and Garfunkel
#2 Partridge Family?
