So my band's first show is on Saturday, and while the man booking the venue told us they wouldn't be getting metal bands, they got two. Here's the thing...We're far from metal. The only other band there besides the two metal bands and us is somewhat powerpopish/screamo. We know we're ready for the show, and we will have a large fan base there, but we don't know what to expect for the overall reaction. Anyone else been in situations like this? |

If it's just some regular Joes who like metal, then maybe they'll like you and even if they don't you can put a little more energy into your act to appeal more to them. If it's the macho thugs, then I'd ask to be first act of the night, play well, and go home early. |

| | | | We're set to play first, thank God. It's more of the second description. I hate that there's no middle of the line with these guys. I like metal, but i like other stuff too. For most of them it's metal only, and they choose not to accept any other type of music. They won't even give it a chance. |

| | | | Thanks guys. I mean, we will be putting all we've got into it. I guess what i really meant was how do you deal with a crowd that you know isn't going to accept what you do? Should we really bolt right after we get off stage? =P |

If you play well there's always gonna be at least some people that are liking it, so just play for them and don't worry about anyone who's ignorant to it. |

Just have fun up there and don't worry about what the other bands are going to play.
