I wonder if it was one of those deals where (like Eddie Rickenbacker) when the spelling was changed, the pronunciation was too.

On a side note, usually a bump is reserved for posts that fall to the second page. A bump after 23 minutes is pointless as it's still on the first page, and probably within the top 5 posts. Just helping out! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Brooklyn, NY | | I've heard all sorts of mispronunciations when I lived in the Midwest. Funny that you mention Fodera because many of my friends and acquaintances would call it Fedora, like the hat. It didn't help that there was a club called Fedora's in KCMO either.
What else. F Bass. I would say "F Bass" and people would look at me like they were waiting for me to tell them what the F stood for. "You mean like Fender?" they would ask. "No, just F Bass. If you must know, the F is for the maker George's last name, Furlanetto." That only served to make it worse and people were often more confused then when we started.
I very, very often get people pronouncing Epifani like "epiphany" with the stress on the second syllable. Even my guitarist friend who I've told several times how to pronounce it still forgets. Not a big deal to me though.
I was a drummer before I was a bassist and man, there are lots of different interpretations of brand names there. Like Paiste. Is it "Pie-stee" or "Pay-stee" or simply "Paste"? Is Tama "Tām-ma" or "Tom-ma"? Who cares?
