In all seriousness though I LOVE power metal. While I don't appreciate Manowar's arrogance and assertion that their form of metal is the only "true" version I do appreciate their intensity and purity.
That's what I like about power metal: it's purity and it's lack of shame. It's the only metal subgenre that's pretty much actively hated upon by the fans of most of the other forms of metal. Black metal doesn't even get a tenth of the grief power metal gets. Nobody's worshipping Satan in PM. Nobody's doing drugs. Nobody's killing anybody (except for the odd orc or two ). It's "fun" metal. You want to have some fun? Buy a case of beer, invite some friends over, and jam some King Diamond or Dio. Always puts a big smile on everybody's face. You can't be angry or depressed all the time (well, I guess some of you can).
Endorsement over. Power metal rules.

I guess power metal is more violent and does have more satan worship in it than I led on. But the violence is more of the DnD variety and the PM bands with satanic messages seem to be in a very small minority and seem to be mainly the older ones like King Diamond and Manowar (maybe I'm wrong, any newer PM bands with satanic influences?). But come on, who could take KD or Manowar seriouslly. I don't think any PM fans have ever burnt down any churches or sacrificed any small animals. They're too busy playing World of Warcraft.

Sure there are probably a few that do (like Manowar...), but on the whole it's just entertainment. Black Metal on the other hand... |

Exactly. Most metal bands are just in it for the shock value. That doesn't make them any less awesome, hell, shock value is the point of metal. The black metal bands make me laugh at how serious they are about burning down churches etc. I love cannibal corpse, not so much PM. I still get the point of it though. It is fun to listen to sometimes, and Dio owns. |

Any other laws are deemed false! *Flexes at the squirrel poking through my Waffle House window*

Gotta try that one hahahah.
