Question what is your favorite onstage act to do?

Sign in to disble this ad
im a fan of AC/DC's Angus Young and his spazzing out, is there anything you as a bassist do onstage that gets people going or is there anything that you do onstage that just sets you out (headbanging does not count!)

i personally like to imitate Angus and duck walk.

the threads yours...

I think riding back and forth across the stage head banging on a tiny skateboard would be fun.

I've done it in practice but not on stage yet. It must be done.

I like biting my lower lip and looking real intense. Sometimes, I stare off in the distance, to show that I'm so cool- I don't need to look at my hands. Other times I pick a person in the crowd, and stare them down until they are uncomfortable and walk away.

Rock on!

i know this really doesnt count as an act that i do, but one time i was on top of my lead guitarists amp, i dont remember the brand, but it had wheels on it. it had a wireless piece on it so he could run around with his guitar. but any ways i got up on top of this thing while he was in one of his solos and had my rythym guitarist push me on it while i did a pose, while this wasnt on stage when we did this, it was recorded by us... we taped our practices, yes i know, dont go there... but he didnt realise it until after his solo and he saw me on his amp on the other side of the basement

Humping or smashing my axe against my rig, Hendrix-style, at the end of a solo.

Actually, when I describe it like that, it sounds pretty ****ing stupid. I suppose the business of rock n roll entails a certain modicum of stupidity to begin with.

My guitar player and I used to chug a beer during the "I Know, I Know, I Know"'s in the middle of "Aint No Sunshine". Good shtick!

Me too! I also excel at lip-biting while looking real intense! You are my kind of crazy bass-playing dude, dude!

Another of my favorite crazy antics is to stare at the bartender until he raises a beer or a beer mug at me, questioning if I want a beer. Then I grin and nod vigorously.

Yeah, that one always brings the house down!

Mostly I just groove, but my groove has become intense enough that my guitarist says it looks like I'm stalking across the stage "like a jungle cat". People seem to like that.

I'll say it... I have done the les claypool circle stroll more than once, and the Scott Ian of anthrax 1/2 a can can thing... mostly skip the boot on the monitor to avoid cliche. I occasionally jump off the bass drum, but a lot of my parts are damn complex so I try to avoid to many acrobatics. I have done a backflip off the bass drum exactly once. Brought the house down but it scared the %^&*out of me and I will never do it again. I like to whip out the electric upright during double bass heavy songs... seeing me bow and rock that thing back and forth has probably cost me plenty of dates, but it sounds awesome.
