it's one of a kind alright...i would remember that bonfire for the rest of my life.

VanillaThundah 03-05-2013 08:30 AM

As much as I like him, I have to say I blame Jack White for this lol.

He plays a Kay guitar that he's had for years and treasures it, so people now think they are worth something. A guitar can have a lot of personal value, and that can misrepresent resale or MARKET value for the uninformed. I don't know who would put a price like that on there, when you could buy a FAR superior instrument brand new for that price. It's not as though they are collectable or anything...will a Johnson or Stagg bass/guitar be worth hundreds a few decades from now? I don't know, if there is an idiot that will buy it then I guess so lol

wcoffey81 03-05-2013 09:09 AM

the sellers inventory is actually pretty cool. to me his prices are all over the place but most seem a bit on the high side. he should have made a note about that bass being universal because it looks like the nut slots would allow for either right or left handed stringing

Konigstiger22 03-05-2013 09:36 AM

But it's got a brass nut!!!!

lfmn16 03-05-2013 10:29 AM

There is a good reason it's one of a kind!

dmusic148 03-05-2013 10:46 AM

If someone gave it to me, I'd rock it. Do a wedding with it.

Here's a real motivator, from the item description:

Be the first on your block to own this...this...this...WHATEVER IT IS!

Yeah, man. I feel my credit card starting to heat up...not.

FuManChu 03-05-2013 10:53 AM

I am sure this sounds just like it looks.

Edward G. 03-05-2013 10:56 AM

That thing is just asking to be destroyed.

wcoffey81 03-05-2013 02:16 PM

the best bass for metal may have just appeared! light it on fire smash it or toss it into the crowd..... or better yet, smash it > light it on fire > toss it to the crowd

kcole4001 03-05-2013 03:16 PM

That headstock makes me laugh!
Really nice job on the nut, too...

And it's 'vintage', which apparently means that every PoS made in the 1960s and 1970s is now instantly 'valuable'.

I was just talking with our drummer today telling him how he's lucky that drummers seem mostly immune to this foolish vintage craze.

NYCbassist 03-05-2013 04:30 PM

I'd lend it to .Prince but only after putting a 3rd row of screws in the bridge(10 is not enough)

You have to light it on fire before you smash it because then you're smashing a flaming guitar and it doesn't get much more metal than that.

 *facepalm* That poor tree...

temmrich 03-05-2013 05:09 PM

Amazingly, this is being sold by a reputable dealer in Cinci http://www.mikesmusicohio.com/ .
I've been to their shop many times. They are usually overpriced (tag price), but I can't believe they even let this in the shop.

LOL and I love the line " Be the first on your block to own this...this...this...WHATEVER IT IS" priceless and that's what this bass should be "without a price"
