The idea that you can have to much theory training... or that it will adversely affect a persons musical creativity.

If you wear shorts then you're not serious about playing music.

"This has been discussed before, use the search feature." In the time it takes to type that out, in most cases someone could just answer the question.

How many times have you heard " what is the best combo for gigs under $300?" +1 on the thought that learning too much musical theory will stunt or stop your creativity......Still with all the silly and dumb things, this is my favorite forum.................

I have worked for one of these people. He has never seen Angus Young and has white legs with knobby knees... Same guy INSISTS on EVERYONE in the band wear sunglasses during performance because he thinks it's cool....

LMAO!!!!

Things to the effect of "If you don't have X number of basses" or "If you don't have (insert name of ridiculously unaffordable for the average person high-end gear here), you're not a real musician"

And of course, "Fender-Snobbery" being my #1 candidate for dumbest.

"Modes are useless for players looking to learn how to 'spice up' their solos."

A mod said that. And it wasn't like he was trying to say that a chordal approach to soloing is a better way to go about it because of x, y, and z reasons. He just flat out said it was useless, and he was basically calling the member he was talking to an idiot.

I heard that this gear I've been looking at, that has been selling so well that it is hard to find them in stock anywhere even though it is made by a major player is being discontinued and now my GAS for one has tripled. How will I ever get one now?
