as far as boring genres go, I feel like the genre is only as boring for a bassist as he is allowed to be. there is almost always cases where bassists are noticeably more active or at least more involved than have the other groups in a genre, so I can't say one for certain.

Even on the slow stuff, how can putting heart and soul into a song be boring? And...I support an entire band, not just a guitard. Now, to answer your question, I suppose Gregorian chants might be on the boring side, but you never know!

You are bored by blues, I like blues! Someone said they're bored by Funk (really???), I love and live for Funk!
There are styles I'm not attracted to but I wouldn't say they were boring. I just gravitate towards any type of booty shakin' music with good melodies. Doesn't matter the style so much! |

+1.1
I'd rather lock in and improvise with a tasteful blues guitarist or old-school country band ANY day! There is plenty of space for moving around the melody and chord structure, and supporting the lyric. The important thing is: you're there to serve the song.

*Edit*:Billy Sheehan (Vai, Gilbert), Juan Alderete (Racer X) are exceptions. |

I mean for me, the fun is all in the challenge, otherwise I'm bored to death |

Nothing against either genre; they just tend to under-utilize what I am capable of, and if I am not contributing vocally, that's where the boredom will set in.
