My first gig was, jeez, 1983 or '84 (I can't remember back that far). Some sort of high school party/dance thing, not a homecoming or prom, held in a hotel auditorium. Probably 300 or 400 people there, at least.

The singer/guitar player got the gig before he even had a band. He threw together some people he knew, and I got in on it because I was a friend of a friend of the other guitar player. I think I'd been playing bass for about eight months. We crammed in practices, and learned about 35 songs in three months. Needless to say, we were all scared s***less. Somehow we pulled it off. Ended up being one of the most fun days of my life.

first gig

First gig was at a Christmas party for drunk employees of this restaurant my wife used to work for. It was a cover band with employee/musicians in it. We sounded pretty bad. The drummer couldn't really play and the damn guitars were too loud (as usual).

The next year was worse (louder guitars and one of them had no kind of rhythm) although my brother sat in on drums so at least the rhythm section was tight.

My bands first gig was a birthday party for a girl that we go to school with. It is was in her basement and we were in front of like 10-15 people. It was cool cause the four of us got $20 each!

I played a bunch of small parties for friends before my first real gig which was at a coffee house Called the Warehouse Cafe with my old band Rain.

It was really sad when they closed the place down because they couldnt make enough money.

Peace
