Who has a bass for every year they've been playing?

Sign in to disble this ad
That'd be interesting, especially from some of the older guys...

I'm thinking of making it my mission in life, whaddya think? I'm 1 or 2 behind at the moment... (don't need to be expensive ones, just decent...)

Okay, okay...I'm trying to justify GAS - but its as good a reason as any to keep buying basses innit?

Hmm...maybe, I was thinking more along the lines of "has someone who's been playing for 25 years got 25 basses" kind of thing. Y'know, "keepers"...not particularly "amazing" but basses they don't wanna get rid of if they can help it

I'm 1 ahead of the game at the moment. 4 years playing, 5 basses:

Yamaha RBX 170 (bday gift from my unlce and my very first bass)
Fender Highway 1 P
Ibanez BTB 505
Heartfield DR 5 Fretless (my first talkbass acquisition)
Chinese Palatino Upright

think i'm gonna slow down thanks to the economy, but the thought of 1 bass a year for the rest of my life does fill me with a sense of glee.

I'm ahead on basses, but pretty balanced out if you count guitars. I've been playing guitar for 6 years and bass for 1.5 years. I have 3 guitars and 3 basses.

At it maybe 5 or 6 years in total with 2 basses to show for it...and one piece of **** that I gave away.

However I did buy a sweet head/cab last year around this time that cost me way more than either of my basses...This tax season I'm thinking maybe a Fender J (I don't own a fender and I feel left out :P)...or maybe start saving for house.

3 years of playing, 3 different basses.

Transition was from new school metal bass tuned way down to old school P-Bass with Flats.

12 years of playing, 4 real basses and 2 beaters. I can't imagine having 12 basses, even with 6 I really only play 2 of them a whole lot.

Started in 1965.
Got close a couple of times and then came to my senses before the current deflationary period(aka SOLD all the ones I don't play much BEFORE the economy cratered).

If I can't play them at a gig they probably will get sold.

Have 7 basses, been playing for 47 years - but I've owned at least that many. I just don't have the space for ALL THE CASES!

I have made 76 basses and have been playing 17 years. Is that a good ratio?

Problematic once you've been playing for a while.
Not only would you need to afford the basses, you'd need to afford the housing...
