I'll be more specific. The question is how to attract women to the TalkBass forum, not to ourselves.

Does he pay the audience? Or is this the ultimate proof why, in general, women don't like bassists?

Why do women hate forums like TB?

Because bass players hang out here.

A lot of us guys still hold some pretty antiquated views of women, or at least think it's cool, manly and funny to profess negativity about women. Internet forums, due to the anonymity they offer, attract a lot of 'socially awkward' guys, and bring out the worst in a lot of people, socially awkward or not. Recipe for lady repellent right there.

I wonder too whether there is a gender bias in the way some web forums are designed and laid out? Not an intentional thing, just that the end result is something 'for men, by men', and doesn't really pique female interest. Or at least not enough interest to make putting up with the nonsense worthwhile.

There's also the fact that all women are colorblind, so they can't appreciate the subtle hue's of the forum that subconsciously keep us coming back day after day.

Most women would say, "I've got better things to do." And they'd be right.

LMAO. I'd love to play for audiences like that. All the attractive young women aside, they are really into the music, know all the words and the dance. What more could you ask for?

Wow, after reading the responses in this thread, it's hard to imagine why women wouldn't be more attracted to this forum...

Why is it that every thread with the word "women", "ladies" or "girls" in the title seems to bring out the worst of TB?

I assume $1 per thousand hits to figure out what someone is generally making from their Youtube vids. Which is ~ $220,000.

That single video probably made him more money than most artists see in their whole lives.

But good for him...

And thus they leave before they get a chance to see the mods sit hard on certain people.
I am not sure if it is testosterone poisoning as much as it is 'trying to give the appearance of testosterone poisoning."

Right or wrong, men learn early that many girls respect a take charge, I know what is right attitude. While trying to out compete everyone else to be the take-chargiest, most outspoken man around, it can lead to pretty some ridiculous attitudes among those who have never actually been there.

The internet is also passive by nature, not a terribly attractive quality for men. So you have people really overdoing the act to make up for that...

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.
