Testify! Although I wouldn't consider KC country music, it's closer to country product. Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, that's country music.

Just like every other genre of music .....there's good stuff and there's BAD stuff. I always find it amusing when people dismiss an entire art form based on a few individual examples.

I can certainly understand that country may not be your preferred music selection, but many people (myself included) find a lot of redeeming value in country music. Although, admittedly, Kenny Chesney is not high on my list ;-)

+1

I seldom find mean-spirited generalizations persuasive.

I still like a good dose of Country and Western (as those are the two types of music my dad plays) hehehehe

BUT,

that is a great pic!

oh, entertainment, as long as the folks left the gig feelin' better than when they came , it's all good.

I notice that a lot with modern country: Not that obvious.

A lot of times, a country band featuring a major artist will have 2 electric guitarists, and an accoustic guitarist, but the singer has an accoustic as well, and you can barely hear one accoustic, my guess is it's the guy who's just playing accoustic.

I think it's a "I wanna look like I'm doing something" you rarely see country dudes just sing.

Is that the only reason???

My room-mate plays country music CONSTANTLY. Part of the reason I'll be moving out as soon as I can find the right place.

Here's why I hate it:
1. Let's start on the bass. There are one or two half decent lines I will admit. But the maojority of what I've heard seem to go on the same old dull, brain-killing half-note riff. As a bass player, I consider this a form of oppression on the band's behalf, or simply laziness on the bassist's behalf.

2. The lyrics seem to revolve around a limited array of key issues: Being in love, breaking up, being in love then breaking up, breaking up and finding new love and someone in town dying... possibly because of love. Do these hicks think about anything else??? I will admit that Johnny Cash, Slim Dusty and Jon Williamson among others have some interesting concepts, however most of it is extremely homopolitan and the way there tends to be little else to listen to in the songs really makes this stand out.

3. Okay, slide guitars sound pretty cool, but would someone just come up with a new solo??? They all do pretty much the same thing.

4. I'm from a small town originally. If there's a major event in town, all you hear is country music. It gets old fast, but small town people obviously don't find this

Although I don't listen to country a lot, Johnny Cash's remake of Hurt is on my all time best list.

I hate how the chorus of every "modern country" song is the same -- it always STARTS with the song title, then a couple more lines, then it ENDS with a repeat of the song title. That formula gets really old.

There are plenty of valid reasons to dislke country music. But this ain't one of 'em...

He's a singer, the guitar's just a "prop".

I've seen Mick Jagger do the same thing, you gonna hate the Rolling Stones now as well?

I really like country roots in other music, but country itself is horrid.

For example: Meat Puppets= cow punk (really cool trippy acid punk with banjo)

Also other countryish styles like bluegrass, blues and dessert I love.

So Xans, the guitar is silent, the bass has the floor, and you're complaining

A Bongo no less.
