Why I Love "Mustang Sally"

Sign in to disble this ad
Playing a dive bar recently, we played this as a request and the whole dance floor filled up with chicks doing totally dirty dancing with each other (let your imagination fill in the blanks). I wish I had a camera.

What power does this song have over women?

The only reason people hate that song is they either played it too many times or heard it too many times. I suffer from neither of those problems so I still like Mustang Sally.

We had a lady drop $40 in our tip bucket to play Mustang Sally this past Friday night. Never fails to fill the dance floor up.

The way the rhythm guitar slides the chord at the end is a fine example of simple genius.

I like to think it is the heavy bass line

I also like playing this song. The bass line is simple but powerful, I like that.

The song simply rocks. And the bass line brings em out.

I like the lyrics:

Square Knot Sally...
Girl you better tie that poontang down.
Square Knot Sally...
Girl you better tie that poontang down.
You've been running all over town, whoo...
Got to keep your big fat feet on the ground.

All you ever do is ride my ass Sally,
Ride, Sally, ride...
All you ever do is ride my ass Sally,
Ride, Sally, ride...
Square Knot Sally...

Women really enjoy singing the hook "Ride, Sally, Ride!"

(Pay no attention to RockNRollAl, aside from his equipment choices.)

I was at a club near a rather large College Campus last weekend to see a friends band play.

From what I could see booze and 21 year old women = naughtiness with or without Mustang Sally. I wish I had a camera too.

I can't explain the power that song has... but I can definitely agree I have experienced similar results!

My band refuses to play that. They're missing out.

Maybe the it's the lyrics that get the girls going:

Mustang Sally, think you better slow your mustang down.
Mustang Sally, think you better slow your mustang down.
You been running all over the town now.
Oh! I guess I'll have to put your flat feet on the ground.

All you want to do is ride around Sally, ride, Sally, ride.
All you want to do is ride around Sally, ride, Sally, ride.
All you want to do is ride around Sally, ride, Sally, ride.

One of these early mornings, oh, you gonna be wiping your weeping eyes.
I bought you a brand new mustang 'bout nineteen sixty five
Now you come around signifying a woman, you don't wanna let me ride.

The difference is that Mustang Sally is a great song. I can understand musicians being bored of playing it.... that doesn't make it a bad song.... it just means they are tired of it.

McDonalds was meant to be cheap and fast. And it is cheap and fast. Being good food inever was part of the requirements.

Ride (Sally, Mary, Judy......) ride.

Love playing it and as others have stated, fills the dance floor and that usually makes the owner happy.
