So I am a bass player who decided that the strat sitting under the bed had to go. I told myself that I just wanted cash...no trades, no deals, just cash. So I put it up for sale and today I have trade offers for 1) Gibson Thunderbird or 2) 2 Aguilar 112 cabs + LMK-II. So instead of thinking what bills I can pay off with that money, I'm deciding what corner of my basement to clear out for the extra gear.
Seriously, how are you supposed to stick to your guns with offers like those?!?! And THAT is why musicians like me are poor. So much for paying off the credit card! |

I'd say more of us have fun trading.

Basses and amps were made to be played, and credit cards were made to be used!
(at least that's what I tell myself in 'denial land')
Yeah, I'm poor too!

Those cabs are killer by the way... |

Can't have both... Second shift 6-7 days a week is a must if I want to eat and live indoors... If I chose to be a musician at this point in my life, I would be beyond poor....

... Selling your guitar is a quick-fix... long after you spent that money, you'll look back and think about what gear you could've bought with it XD

I now have 4 basses, a PA, a recording studio, a trailer for all the gear, and a HUGE credit card debt. I had to refinance too. Do you think I have regrets?........Not even one. I get enormous pleasure from all my gear. You only live once, and I'm sick of being 'responsible'. One morning I woke up and looked at my amp that I'd been gigging for 28 years, and thought F&%$# it, I deserve better.
BTW, I can service the debt.
