Won Battle of the Bands!

Sign in to disble this ad
So, my "experiment" band and I won Battle of the Bands (There were 10 acts) with a kick a** rendition of Shake Your Blood by Probot (in which I had a bass solo ) and what did we get for winning? A single piece of cardstock meant to be a "certificate". 1 "certificate" for the 3 of us. And to make things worse, the picture on the "certificate" looks like a thumbnail ripped straight from Google and expanded to fit the page. It looks awful. Anyone else get any wonderful prizes like this before?

We're in a multi-genre battle coming up early in July. Three prizes, one for each place.

Right now, we have a guaranteed prize coming, since only three bands qualified to run in the battle have entered in our genre bracket.

Well sombody thought you guys were good and you won. That should mean something.

My band won Battles of The Bands at my high school back in 1971, we got 500.00 which was a lot of bread back then.

To this day when I go back home somebody will remember and say yeah I remember when you guys won The Battle of The Bands.

My band won against 12 others (all but a select few were really crappy. I mean... yeah, that bad) and we got $100 and a guitar that had been set on fire then mounted on a trophy...

How many bands actually have a trophy?

I think I would want to Know what the prize was before I wasted my time entering a BOB. Just a thought.

With the lack of gigs for everyone lately, anything works!

+1

One of my bands did three band battles in the space of a month earlier this spring. It's a good way to try out new tunes live, you can meet some new bands to play with, and you might even win a few bucks.

we won one at Fresno State. We got a 24 channel mackie mixer, a $500 gift certificate to a music store in Fresno and an engraved plaque (well, it got lost in the mail, apparently).

but win some, lose some.

We lost more than we one, and in fact on one of them, our drummer played a different song than we did - and could never recover. it was quite comical. the thing that sucked was that we paid to play the show. I was always against battle of the bands as they bring out the worst in musicians.

We lost one and won one. The second BOB had two shows with two bands competing for the win. The other band didn't show up. Either we were too good or they had a paying gig! Smart guys.

Meh, I wasn't in it for the prizes (that apparently were non existent). I just wanted to play a kick-a** song with some of my good friends.

I remember the band I was in when I was 16 won third or second (I can't remember) place in a battle of the band and the prize was to play at another show.

THe show appeared to be a real pain in the ass, 2 20 minutes set with a 4 hours wait between both set under a really hot sun....it sucked.

Battle of the bands.....the only real ones i've sen here are organized by the school and help fundraise...good!

Other BOBs Concerts Frst, Emergenza, Supernova etc....Also some local ones, we have Dtox (montreal hot topic) battle of the bands.

What happens is they get sponsors and judges to make it "look" official, you sell tickets, have to have a minimum amount.....oh and they make the money. Pay To Play. If you sell a lot of tickets....oh i'm sorry "win" or do good in the BOB then you are off to the next show! Oh you're making it to finals......NO you just keep playing their ****y BOBs and make them money.

We did concerts first as our first show, it sucked. We did a DIY gig this friday we had a nice pumped crowd, made money and had a longer set time.
