OK, here's the report from the Wednesday night session. In general it was MUCH better than the Monday night jam. There was a KILLER keyboard player up with the house band, a great bassist, and a really good drummer too. There were a few, um, amateurish musicians that came up, but overall the scene was much more enjoyable.

I sat in a couple times, playing the bassist's Squier jazz through an old Acoustic head and GK 412 cabinet. First time was mostly instrumental. Second set was with an awesome girl singer who could just belt it out. She sang a couple songs with us that were just smoking. I'm looking forward to coming back there next week.

I got that one beat! I wasn't part of it, but I went to an open jam night at a place where I live. They have it every wednesday. The house band is good, and you get a decent mix of acts - some good, some not. Anyway there was this one middle-aged geeky fat white guy in glasses - looked like he would be a teacher gone pedofile or something. He gets up and starts rapping - yes rapping - and not good rapping. Really bad, really obscene, rapping. It was just the most bizarre experience I've ever had at one of these things. Glad to say I wasn't participating in the evening.

Sounds like a case of over-indulgence on alcohol.
