Ive only done a few gigs, but i did have a few screwups.
The highschool jazz band was doing some benefit concert at the school, and we played like 5 songs. We had music, so i never bothered memorizing the lines, or even the changed. That is not a good thing to do. On the second to last song, I noticed somethign was wrong. The solos were going, there was no repeat, and i was running out of music. The peice was three pages, and i only had 2. I attempted to tap the last few measures and grab the page with my right hand, but of course it fell onto the floor. This led to me cutting out for 2 whole measure while i picked it up. Forunately, this happened near the end of the solo, so it wasnt too bad.
Another was during "Mollys Lips" (Nirvana) at a punk show. We played the third verse just bass and drums, and i had the brilliant idea to stand on my big peavey 1x15 comba during that part, then leap to the mic for the chorus. It went well, getting some chears, but when i lept off the amp fell over, crushing the microphone in front of it. Fortunately, my gear was all fine and i didnt get charged for the mic. I was silent for the whole last quarter of the song, but noone cared after seeing my leap and the subsequent collapse of the amp. |
