Would you leave your bass or amp at a gig you are playing the next eveing.

I suppose most of us collect our guitars and mics at the end of the night, but who else takes their bass amp home with them? I worked long and hard to get my Phil Jones M-500, 8T and 16B set up, I don't have the money to replace it in the next 15-20 years so I am taking it home with me after the gig, I don't care who snickers at me. Yeah, it's heavy and a PITA to transport, but if I have it home I'm not worrying about it all day.

Anyone else as anal as I am?

Nope....but that is a nice looking rig. Whatever you're comfortable with is how you should handle your gear.
Nobody else is going to help you replace it if it disappears. Do what you gotta do.

Me, I just cover mine up with a little black cloth and call it a day.
Of course my "rig" is attached to my stand and only consists of
two "pedals".

Only happened a couple of times where it's being an option. I left my cab but the head went home with me.

However in that specific instance, I knew the staff at that venue well, and we locked my cab in the cellar. It's a BIG heavy thing, and while it's a good cab it was cheap and would be easy to replace. Also by not leaving a complete rig, there was no chance of anyone "trying it out".

In your case it would be tough to replace, and lets all be honest: If any of us saw that sitting in a corner who WOULDN'T want to try it out. It just has "play me" written all over it. Personally I would NEVER mess with anyone's gear but a rig like that is something you don't see every day, and I'd certainly go over and take a close look - what's the chances someone would take it a step further? Pretty good.

Take it home. Keep it safe.

I always take my bass and Shuttle 6.0 head with me, but will leave my Avatar cab there.

I have occasionally left a speaker cabinet overnight, but never a bass or amp head. Let 'em snicker.

I've never had anyone laugh at me, but +1 to "Let 'em snicker." After having a bass stolen from my church - from a room that was "always locked" - I don't leave any gear anywhere.

(can you tell I'm still a little bitter about that?

lol)

I'll take a little physical labor over having to replace gear any day, especially with a PJB rig like that! Take it home with you... peace of mind is priceless.

I've left my guitar stand, mic stand, head & cab(s) at dozens of clubs over the years. But I never leave basses, pedals or mics anywhere. The only 2 times I ever regretted leaving my rig was back in the early 80s, the time there was a fire at the club after hours. Somebody broke in to rob the place, and lit the office on fire. The office was right behind the stage. Our equipment didn't burn, but was thoroughly hosed down by the fire department. Luckily, my head still worked after drying out. The drums were a bit the worse for the soaking, though.
And there was the time the club went belly up during the week, and we arrived the following Friday to find the doors chained shut and official "closed" paperwork on the door. That was a chilly feeling. It took us several days to get somebody there with a key, to get our stuff out. The club never re-opened as far as I know. The marquee had our band name on it for at least a year after that - good advertising!

Sir I have one word for you= INSURANCE.
I never leave my basses or heads/pedals behind, I have left cabs overnight before. I figured they were pretty safe, someone trying to steal a 8X10 cab would draw a little attention, oh and it was covered too.

Relatively speaking:

Amp heads are portable and spendy.

Speaker cabs are bulky, heavy and not as expensive.

See where I'm going with this?

Multi-night gigs just don't happen here any more. So this isn't a problem

I think i'm less focused on the 'leaving your gear overnight for a two night gig' (which, if I trust the club, I will do) and more focused on the 10x24 (or are they 8's? I can't tell) rig you've got going there! I've never even IMAGINED a rig like that, let alone played out of it! I usually like (and play out of) a 15, 2 10's, and a horn. I'm curious...how does that rig sound?

If it fits in a bass case and a backpack I take it with me. Vintage amp heads definitely come with me on my way out the door as well.

Cabs and combos I'll usually leave overnight. I've often left my rack intact, I feel fairly safe as long as the front cover is on it to cover things up.

There are 16 five inch speakers in the bottom cab, and 8 five inch speaker in the top cab = 24 Pirhana 5" speakers. The surface area and sound are comparable to a 610 cabinet, but I own an Ampeg SVT-AV 810 with matching head and this rig just blows it out of the water. I was very skeptical about tiny drivers being able to pull off low frequencies, but I am an absolute Phil Jones convert! The little buggers are very power hungry, this particular rig is used by someone on the Dingwall forum, he throws 4000 watts at it, and it doesn't break up. If you ever get the opportunity, play one, and if you can afford it, get one! Gary at Guitar X is very accomodating, he has the next size "down" rig in stock, and will work with you on layaway. Sounds like a shameless plug for Phil Jones Bass and Guitar X, but I am completely unashamed of the tone "monster" and the reaction I get from seasoned club sound guys is priceless! I play a five string with a hipshot detuner, and let me tell you, this rig can handle a low A with authority.

PM me for more info or pics, I'm happy to help anyone trying to decide if there is more to life than 15 or 10 inch drivers for bass reproduction.

No, you're not being anal at all. Call yourself smart. Even if something doesn't get stolen, it's amazing how many people have the mentality that it's alright to fiddle with something that isn't theirs and completely without asking. Then if they break something, you'll get the blame somehow.

we perform a 2 nighter at a casino every other month. I leave my amp and cab and all the PA up after we're done. Security cameras everywhere and security people as well. If you're not with the band you don't get up on stage.
