YES! I finally get to bitch about a sound guy!

This bitching about a sound guy is a very special thing for me, our band is only 7 gigs into it, (eventhough were kickass)lol, very sentimental, and I may even tear up...sniff, I feel more like a bonifide gigger with a sound dude bitch. Last night our band played at a wierd, but friendly place, nice size crowd. About 6 songs into it, the "sound guy" came to us, and slurred he didnt want to come off as a di*khead, but he doesnt hear any highs from the back of the room, plenty low but no high. He staggered over to the board...sitting on the milk crate, didnt touch anything, just looked and went back to the back of the room / end of bar. We rolled our eyes and laughed it off cuz we heard ourselves fine and were seriously digging our sound. It was house gear, with a decent pa...no complaints there. I was able to take a few steps into the audience and listed from there, still sounded good to me. after the set, a good friend of mine sitting in the audience, asked me if I noted our "sound guy", at the point where he leaned over his milk crated board and spilled beer all over it. I didnt see that. Thankfully it had no effect on our set, we really kicked ass anyway, and were all on cloud nine today because we were so well recieved. I couldnt wait to rant to you guys about my first sound guy.....issue. Rock on!

Probably a poor old washed up music-lover who can't hold his drink. I feel sorry for the old man.

If his incompetence had no affect on your set, what are you ranting about?

Bass sound takes a considerable amount of space to develop. It is entirely possible that you were too loud from the stage. What kind of equalization were you using?

Im ranting becuase he was a drunken, unprofessional waste. Even in my limited experience I know each tune needs to be tweaked accordingly, you wouldnt have known the band before us even had a singer if you didnt see him. Certainly couldnt hear him, but again, this dude just stayed at the bar being a creepy leech to the female patrons. And just the potential to screw us all up is enough for me to rant!

I dont know but from everyone we talked to, old band members, music people, people who would know all said we sounded awesome. Even the band after us sounded great...with no tweaking of the board in between. That bass wasnt too loud, and I doubt, after a decent investigation, that mine was.
