Well, I just got home from my first "gig". We played for a youth group outreach thing (drummer and guitarists church, I go to a different one). Anyway it was good. We got to play 8 songs, a mixture of cover tunes by SRV, Hendrix, Cream, The Meters (Cissy strut

), and one John Mayer tune.
Before we started playing, I was tuning up as usual when my D string went flying. I first thought I broke it, but after a closer look, my D string tuner seems to have broken. Nothing happens when you turn it and the peg part can just spin freely. Not good.
Anyway, I ended up using the church backup bass. An ESP

strung with super-light strings. The bass sounded fine, but playing took a bit of effort considering I normally use Power Slinkies (55-110).
Other than that, and a belligerent soundman, it went really well. Nailed my solo, and the guitarist and drummer were tight. It was great.
