Went out to a show last night (a sweet band called Pelican for the record) and when the bass player pulled out his Stingray - black w/ black guard, maple fretboard - the first thing I thought was "Hey, that looks like Figjam's avatar!" I shook my head and laughed a bit to myself. Maybe I hang out here a bit too much?

You can name custom basses by sight.
"When you start naming off wood."-Keith
When you can name a bass by someones description without seeing the bass.
I'm guilty of all of the above. There are plenty more, but that's all I could think of right now. |

band looks at you like you're speaking klingon. | Or when you go to a furniture store and ask a question like "Is that American or Honduran Mahogany?" and they just look at you like you're crazy for even knowing it's Mahogany.
Or you see a table in a store and mention to your friends "That a nice piece of hard rock maple, oh and those Dark Stained chairs do not fit to that one, they should have used Rosewood, even if it was just a Rosewood veneer on the outside." I've done both of those. |

When playing a four string makes you feel like you've only been using a box of crayons with a limited number of colors.
When you've seen the fretted/fretless bass video so much that you dream it from time to time. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
