I was in Indianapolis yesterday and stopped in the Sam Ash by the Centerville Plaza, just because. I was looking around at fx pedals; i particularly wanted to try out an English Muff'n, due to all the banter about it on TB.
So I went up to the PFY (pimply-faced youth) behind the counter and said "Do you have an English Muff'n around here somewhere?" The look on his face was priceless. I just stood there waiting for him to answer.
Eventually he replied with "What, are you hungry?" |

I had to explain to the bartender that a Half and Half is half guiness and half Bass Ale. He says that's a Black and Tan, I say no, a Black and Tan is half Guiness and half Harp Ale. Either way, shouldn't you stop and think to ask about it before pouring 16 ounces of creamer into a glass?
People are stupid everywhere.

People are stupid everywhere. | Well, I agree that the bartender is indeed an idiot, but the classic black and tan is, indeed, Guiness and Bass. Harp is used when you want an "all Irish" black and tan.

But I have had to order it specifically as such sometimes; a lot of places think they can get away with anything that isn't dark as the Tan.

A Black and Tan, as a beverage, is generally a porter or stout over an ale whereas a Half and Half is a porter or a stout over a lager. |

People are stupid everywhere. | I wouldn't get mad at the bartender. The traditional way to order the drink you wanted is to say "Black and Tan" which is some sort of Bock (or Stout) style and Bitter (or Ale) style beer mixed togehter. In the states Guiness is normally used for the Bock and it is up to the Bartender to normally choose the Ale (Where I go it is Bass Ale). You really didn't give the bartender the correct order. But you can always think he is stupid... if it makes you feel better.

That's all I'll drink is real beer. Beer made by the Bavarian beer law standards, which means no rice beer! (To hell with Budweiser and friends).
I'm a fan of a good Hefe-Weissen, particularly. |

you wont beleive this one, but i asked for bass strings in a local guitar shop a few years back the reply was "yeah we sell individual strings but its cheaper to buy a full pack of 6 instead of just the bass strings" i nearly fell over. needless to say i just called him an idiot, turned round and left.

But still the guy is an idiot for the kind of context the question was used.
