don't watch it. It's a sad sight. I posted a response.

Like I said... flat back, pegs... didn't sound horrible with the bad strings - had a bit of growl. The really sad part is when it's broken apart, you can tell it's old wood.

.... and a carved top.

I'm really surprised this didn't cause more outrage here on talkbass.

Shame...

I could have given that bass a home, I wish I had an URB. Reminds me of the junior high near home that went out of biz, converted to a rest home and the help was ordered to destroy ALL of the band instruments in the music wing, under protective supervision, should anyone actually want to save one. It all went under a large forklift and into the dumpster. I found out way too late about that one too....someday......

The bass smashers pulled the video. Guess they got tired of the well-deserved abuse being heaped on them.

No, it was probably pulled because we wrote multiple emails to the people that gave him his scholarship and sent a link to the video.

There are things that happen for the right reasons. He had left some quote to somebody saying that their efforts at bashing him could have been put to better use or something to that effect.

I responded that he could have put his efforts at smashing the bass to better use by giving it to some kid whose entire may have been changed by being able to become involved in music.

Kudos to whomever brought this stupidity to light and made the folks involved in his scholarships aware of his idiotic ways.

He'll probably need twice the amount of scholarships to get over that much STUPID.

Just my .02 I don't have much tolerance for crap such as this.

it is good they finally either saw the stupidity or they got fed up with complaints
expanding what M Ramsey said
the bass especially is such an opportunity filled instrument
no matter what someone will always need a bass player
it gets kids into college who wouldn't have a chance otherwise
so not just in musical terms but on the terms of any careers
what these idiots did was ridiculous

I never paid much attention to this in the beginning because people here seemed to think this was funny, OK, or whatever. even hilarious. But, what a stupid video, what a waste of a bass that someone could have fixed, and be playing right now. And, at the time I did not even think that some deserving kid could have benefitted from that bass. I have run into bassists in college situations who do not even own a bass, except for a school limited loaner. Someone would have really enjoyed that bass.

Glad it was pulled. The world is better for that.
