Does anybody know the origin of this "bass"?

The perfect bass for playing bum notes on the G string:

Does anyone know where this came from? Are there any more photos of it out there? Were there other instruments like it?

If it's been discussed before, please point me to the correct thread.

Found it in the sex forum of a weightlifting website. The guy who posted it there doesn't know anything about it, just reposted it from elsewhere.

Wow, every player's fantasy!! That's why they call it a 'double bass'.

Reminds me of a Fellini movie... Satyricon?

Those basses are supposed be a real joy to play, but I've heard the upkeep is real PITA.
