Well, I'm typing, and all of a sudden my backspace key just comes off the keyboard.
I tried to fix it, but it appears that one of the tiny little pieces of plastic that snapped the hinge to the keyboard broke.
I whipped out my calipers and measured the diameter of the other plastic piece that didn't break, and it was 0.0235".
***!? Plastic pieces that are subject to constant use and abuse should never be 0.0235" in diameter!
Right now, I'm trying to get use to pressing directly on the little rubber membrane switch that the key normally presses down against, until I can order a new key.
I'm so pissed off!
Anyone have any angry "keys breaking off the keyboard" stories to share? |

I will use the backspace key constantly without thinking about it, and it really slows me down right now to go over to the backspace key and have to fiddle around with the tiny membrane switch. |

I'll make and correct typo's without even seeing them because I'm usually not looking at my screen when I type.

Order from them! I recommend them. I had to order two keys for my MacBookPro - just don't throw away the envelope on accident then they mail you your stuff.

Anyone have any angry "keys breaking off the keyboard" stories to share? | Desktop or laptop? Laptops are tricky to fix, even when you've got the replacement key. Good luck with it, though. Desktops - hunt down a late 80s IBM Model M keyboard on eBay and throw away the POS that came with the machine.

| | | | Yes, actually. My old keyboard had little aluminum supports for any key wider than one keyspace. If any of the keys that had these supports came off, you couldn't get them back on right, and they'd be lopsided and you'd have to press them at just the right spot to register a typed character. I just replaced that keyboard and I've come to find the new one is the same way. So now, I'll have to take out all the keys around a wide key if just to clean it if it needs it. I hope nothing falls on this board...

Guess what! | Works in Firefox It's not related to Chrome, but to google search in general.
You can also do currency conversion, and some very complex maths. It easily beats those simple calculators.

Ok, I just ordered a new Backpace key from Laptopkey.com
Now I'm just hoping their shipping is quick, because this is driving me nuts trying to type this way! |
