As some know, I sold most all of my gear to fund some automotive repairs. Long story short, in September, I'll have around $2100 - $2500 or so to play with.
I am not sure what to get. I miss having my 55-02, but the Ibanez Sr535 I own is adequate enough to get any job I need done. I have a Peavey TKO75 1x15 combo which is also adequate enough to get the job done. Doesn't sound near as good as the Svp-pro preamp and xlt cabs I had, but as I said, its adequate enough to get the job done and doesn't sound horrible either. So I'm considering maybe a new rig. I also want another GT-10B. Two other things I want are a new TV and gaming system, I'm leaning towards the PS3 for that. I'm also in dire need of a new computer and will be using some of the cash for that to build a nice bare bones system from the ground up.
I'm wondering if it'd be best to forgo the bass and amp and just get the TV and PS3. I'm thinking they're more practical. I can pick up the PS3 for around $250 in a pawn shop, so that'd be where I probably get one. But damn if I don't really miss my 55-02 and if I get one of those again, then I won't be able to get the TV and game system because I do want to keep some of the money tucked away for other things that will come up down the road. If I play my cards right I can get a 32" TV and PS3, and either the GT-10B or better amp.
So in addition to the computer what would you purchase?
Lakland, Amp, GT-10B, TV/PS3?

The $2100 figure was a bit on the conservative side. With my paychecks and coin jar the figure will be closer to $3000. I don't really need any gear. The stuff I have now works well for what I need it to do, so the gear issue is more want based than need based. Fortunately, I know what gear I do want. I want another 55-02 because it sounds better than the Sr535. I wouldn't say I need another amp because the old Peavey TKO75 1x15 works well and all the gigs I do have P/A support, so the wattage and volume it puts out are plenty good for stage volumes. It just doesn't have the sound I'm looking for. Hence why I am really missing my svp-pro and xlt's. Quote:

I do have other things I like to do besides play the bass guitar and since the gear I have right now may not be the best in the world it gets the job adequately done, I figure why not consider a TV/Ps3 neither of which I currently own.

In my professional capacity as a TV and home cinema salesperson, my advice to you is; buy a Panasonic.

Shop around for the TV.
Get a life, you won't need a PS3.
Then get a new amp. I bet that Ibanez would sound mighty fine through a nice rig. You can get a nicer bass later. |
