So for the past couple months, the wife and I have been trying to use less gasoline. We drive her Mitsubishi Lancer whenever we can. We now walk the 1.5 miles to the grocery store, we walk as much as possible around town for other errands. We bust out our bikes also whenever we can. All of this to combat the wicked gas prices, and we feel better about our environmental impact along the way.
All along, my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 sits in the driveway...just sits. I've done a lot of mods to my truck....custom dual exhaust, intake, SuperChip, lowered, on and on and on. Well today, I said screw it and took the Ram out for a spin. I paid $90 to fill up the tank, I threw in a CD I made of all my favorite 80's hair band metal I listened to as a teenager and cranked it up, rolled all the windows down on this gloriously sunny day with temps in the high 70's, and off I went to drive around town.
It felt flippin' sweet to open that sucker up and cruise around town. I did some burnouts, smoked a couple ricers, and went WOT a couple times. Man, it felt great to have all that power on demand. The motor has a nice low rumbly growl to it just cruising around town. I got dirty looks from all the tree-hugging-granola-heads as I drove around, but I just didn't care this time. It was a great feeling just me and my truck cruising around town. The only thing I didn't do was park on the corner downtown and pop the hood to talk motors with the other gear heads like I did when I was 18.
So anyway, I'm just sharing. I probably blew off about $50 worth of gas today, so all you gas-guzzling vehicle haters can bust one me all you want. I'll go back to Mr. Environmentally Friendly tomorrow.

I only take the car if it's raining (which doesn't make any sense because I work outside anyway) but I, too, have no problem taking the car out and driving it like it was stolen from time to time.

Almost got hit twice in ten minutes yesterday on my motorcycle because of people on their cell phones. No wonder everyone's driving the biggest thing they can get, you NEED a tank to survive here.
