The *facepalm* IRL thread

So, I would like for you guys to tell me about moments in real life or things you've heard people say that have literally caused you to do a facepalm. There should be plenty of laughs to go around.

Today, I was in my ethics class and the professor was discussing ethical relativism, and how under that theory nothing can be right or wrong, or even proved or disproved. He doesn't agree with this theory, but as an example he mentioned the American Flat Earth Society.

Here ya go:Flat Earth FAQ - Please Read!
DISCLAIMER: This site may cause a noticeable reduction in intelligence level.

Here are a few of my favorite Q&A's about this absolutely genius theory:
"Q: Why do you believe the Earth is flat?
A: It looks that way up close. In our local reference frame, it appears to take a flat shape, ignoring obvious hills and valleys."

"Q: What about the stars, sun and moon and other planets? Are they flat too? What are they made of?
A: The sun and moon, each 32 miles in diameter, rotate at a height of 3,000 miles above sea level. As they are spotlights, they only illuminate certain places. This explains why there are nights and days on Earth. The stars are at a height of 3,100 miles above sea level, which is as far as from San Francisco to Boston."

"Q: Why are other planets round, but not the Earth?
A: The Earth is not one of the other planets. The Earth is special and unlike the other bodies in numerous ways."

Okay, I had to laugh at this, but seriously? Do people really believe this stuff?
*facepalm*

Anyone else?

My IRL:FP story comes from a dude I know who's sanity is questionable.

One night one of my friends GF made us a bunch of tacos which we were all happily feasting upon, when said "questionable sanity guy" seemed to be having issues. After witnessing his trainwreck taco eating style, which resulted in taco-goodness all over the floor, we finally asked him what was wrong, to which he angrily and quite frustratedly replied "THIS IS WHY I DON'T EAT TACOS!!!"

At work, the other day, someone came in and ordered a bacon cheeseburger off our "2 for $3" menu. We allow people to "Double the beef" for another dollar. When they got the burger, they looked at it and asked how come it didn't come with 4 pieces of bacon instead of 2 since they "doubled the beef." I then had to explain to a very irate customer that beef comes from cows and bacon comes from pigs.

One of the teenage girls that worked with me was literally in tears.

This.

I spent a few months on the Flat Earth forums - and you quickly notice that it is just a giant trolling site. People go on there to laugh at the Flat Earthers, and slowing start arguing on their behalf against the next wave of people there to mock.

It's actually very funny when you get into it.
