Legit answer: If the original post hasn't been quoted before I post, I try to remember to quote (copy) it because I've seen many threads over the years where the original poster didn't like the responses and deleted the original post, thus making the responses with no context. As far as having it done by multiple posters, possibly because they don't read all the posts before they reply or don't want to cut/paste a specific portion that they're reply to. Most don't once the original post is quoted in its entirety.

It also the same reason most TBr's quote a post they are replying to.

"+1" or it's equivalent "^this^" I have no real problem with ( I use them myself occasionally), about the only thing that bugs me about the way some post on forums is those who use "text-speak". It's a bloody forum, not a cell-phone. I can see using it on a cell phone, where using up minutes can cost money, on an internet forum it just comes across as intelectually lazy, and causes me to have doubts about the poster's intelligence.

Im also not a fan of text-speak, but you should probably take into account that a lot of people who post on here are doing so from the TB app, on their phones.

Half or more of my posting is done from my phone. I just hope people forgive the Swype errors

This is part of the reason why I dont nitpick peoples posts for spelling or grammar.
The other part being that there are a lot of posters who are not from the US, and English may not be their first language.
I have happened to notice, though, that a lot of our US posters seem to be transplanted from other countrys.
