Turned 18 today, and Had my heart set on getting a new bass. It's not new and no where near it. Sr300l still considered a beginner but still better than my current Gio. I applied to 3 places for a job-nope. Found a used one for $125 online, but couldn't even manage that. I now stand at $80 which was short lived because my iPod broke and have to repair it for I use it for everything...even tuning my bass. Spent my whole happy bday watching Disney xd (of all things) bored at home. On top of that I got suspended from school for five days because of tardies. And it just now dawned on me literally just now that this is the most messes up bday I've had in a long time!? All this didnt phase me up until now a wave of depression just hit me
....I'm getting my self a present...a tattoo, should suffice
Das ist alles, danke

Not an anti tattoo rant, but definitely a proponent of QUALITY pieces by quality artists on well thought out locations.
Being stuck with cheap scratcher ink won't improve your day.

Being late once or twice is acceptable, but enough to get you suspended? As much as I hated school, I was never once late. My mom used to drive me to school each morning, and one morning, the car would not start, so I ran like hell to make it to school on time. The bell rang just as I made it in the gate. I was exhausted, but not late.
When you show up late for work repeatedly, the consequence is usually a lot more serious than a five-day suspension. Why should your employer keep you around if you cannot show up on time every day? |

3 job applications is NOTHING.
Learn to tune by ear or buy a cheap $10 tuner.
If you want to get a better bass, save some money. Getting a cheap tattoo is not going to help that (or anything else).
If you want to get a tattoo, by all means do so, just don't waste your time getting a cheap one (not to mention, put some thought into it).

| This. I did an average of 25 a week last summer for two months straight before I got a job. This winter school is slowing me down to about 15 per week. I still havent gotten anything yet. |

| | | | I would say hold off on the tattoo, really think out what you want, and whether or not it should be a priority right now. I would like some more quality ink but right now it's just not in the budget, stick to the plan to upgrade your bass, stay in school, a job will come.

Shouldn't they shackle him to a desk or something so he can't leave? That would fix being late right?
Just kidding. But really it does seem a little backwards.
And yeah.. stay away from the cheap ink. I've been on both sides and can say from experience that it definitely "pays" to pay more for a good job.

| | | | Tune your bass to the radio or a CD, etc. I've been doing that for 30-odd years.
