13 Nights of Day (aka what happens when the sun never sets)

Great horror movie. 30 Days of Night....Vampires attack Alaska town in dead of winter.

EXCEPT I'M HERE IN ALASKA RIGHT NOW AND AM LOSING MY MARBLES. IT HASNT GOTTEN DARK IN TWO WEEKS!

I guess the sun goes down but the sky never gets dark. My body clock doesnt know what to do....Im exhausted, its the middle of the night and somehow going on a bike ride seems great.

Great place for a vacation. Valdez, Denali, Talkeetna....lots of outdoor activity.

Now Im in Homer. Homer is on the coast. Fishing, Kayak, Espresso.

Some observations:

1. Tiny Espresso stands everywhere. Good coffee. Constant flow of caffeine.

2. Thousands of RVs (Caravans to you Brits).

3. No reference anywhere to Homer Simpson. As though vigilantes tore down any Homer S. reference.

4. Pizza joint called "Starvvin Marvin"--isn't this the Ethiopian kid from South Park. Very twisted.

5. Ten PM, sun out--everything closed anyway. Understandable but wierd to a New York guy.

Stay tuned.

See the original Insomnia (not the Pacino/Swank version), great police procedural about a detective trying to survive his demons, the Midnight Sun and solve the case.

I didn't know that there was a previous version. The Pacino version was kind of a stinker.

Yeah, it was. The original is Norwegian. it was released in 1997, with Stellan Skarsgård in the role Pacino played. Far superior.

I want to go to Alaska so badly,it was all I could think of the last week.I want to ride with the dogs, get the hell away from city life and ect. since childhood. Yea Jack London books.

But having 2 classes at the summer school at 40 degrees pushes me harder and harder everyday to run away to Alaska lol.You just enjoy your insomnia (where as mine destroys me).
