2008 flu season no joke!!

Hey guys, I just thought I would take a minute to let you know how bad this years strain of the flu is. It is currently on mark to be the worst flu season since the 1940's. I've been laying in bed shivering for three days. If you haven't already caught the flu, and you didn't get the vaccine, do yourself a favor and go spend $20.00 on a shot. This thing is about to kill me. Take care guys!

I took the vaccine AND I got the flu. Good times. I love life.

You work at a school with dirty, dirty, dirty kids. Consider a profession change or keep expecting to catch these things.

But yeah, the flu has been spreading pretty badly around my college. Nasty stuff.

Doesn't seem to have hit WV too bad thus far. I'm hoping it stays that way. I haven't had the flu in over a decade and I'm content to keep it that way.

According to the CDC, the flu vaccine available for this year is NOT designed for the strain of influenza that is predominantly infecting people at this time and will not provide any protection against it. The vaccine was tailored to protect against another type that now is accounting for about 15% of influenza cases.

The half of my band that lives in another city already got it. I'm totally not getting the vaccine because I get sick every time I do! (every year in the military, I was forced to take it, so I'd get sick, recover, get the vaccine, get sick again. No thanks)

I read that if you did get the flu shot, it won't hit you as hard as those who didn't get it. I guess that means you'll be laid up in bed for three days instead of a week!

I never get sick from the shot. Although I have heard of people getting kind of beaten down by it. It's the flu that it doesn't fight against that always gets me.

I'm very wary of the vaccine.

My friend had it...

a) his arm turned green

b) then he got the flu

My personal remedy is hot milk + a healthy shot of whiskey + honey + 2 aspirin.

Wold thia be The Flu that starts as a really bad couph and a low grade fever, and then starts to make you lungs sinius ache as you run a fever of 102 and your Shiviring all nigt even under 6 blankets. along with a total loss of appetite?...Is so im on day 3.

I went to ned at six last night and didnt wake up till 10

I still have this darn flu!!!!!

I was felling crappy fri night, made it through my gig on Sat and have been laid up since then. Missed 2 days of work, I am back now but feel like a dog turd........

+1 - boy that brings back some memories. Get sick, get over it, get another shot, get sick, get over it.....I haven't had the Flu in over 6 years and I'm very thankful. Did I mention I haven't had the FLU shot either.

Thank you for yor confarmation, both my Dear Linda are going through this!!!!!
Shes worked trough this but she dosent have to interact with the public...I work at a big bos tore and am worried about spreading it around

ive got this too, day3 as well...still no appetite fever is dying down a bit.
Had a really hard time sleeping, due to headache/fever. Cold cloth on forehead helped though.
two of my band mates got it too, i think i caught it from them.

I didn't get the flu, but I got absolutely knocked off my feet for several days with a cold. Haven't been sick much at all in the past 6 years of so, but that one was a doozy. 10 days later, I'm still coughing and sniffling some. HACK! HACK! SNIFF! SNIFF!

We currently have an outbreak on campus. It spread around like wildfire because it's college; people being cramped into poorly ventilated classrooms, hooking up, etc. In an effort to curb the spread, they've been quarantining people and mandating that those who are sick don't go to classes for at least a week. Unfortunately, I still see quite a few sick kids in my classes. Jeez, the school gives them a legitimate, acceptable reason to skip...and they don't.

I have never had influenza and I've never had a flu shot. I've thought about getting one a few times, but never bothered.

I have seen a number of news reports about the vaccine being basically ineffective against the common strain going around this year.
